Dr. Broquard Headed Back to Lafayette

Anonymous
I heard from a source that they are considering moving Dr. Carrie Broquard back to Lafayette after SY 26-27. Did anyone else hear about this?

What's your source, OP? I'm pretty well connected to the Lafayette community and haven't heard this. As far as we know Prall is doing a great job and planning to continue.

Someone on the DCPS School Planning Team mentioned that it is one of many leadership changes being considered for several schools. They are considering pushing Prall into an IS role.

So I guess CB already fixed all the problems at Miner then? This would be a loss for the Lafayette community, we are just beginning to heal from the Decade of Terror.

Yeah I’m struggling to understand the thinking here. Are things not working out at Miner?

Most likely a rumor. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a principal returning to a former school or being pushed to an IS role. They do not get a pension like principals and aren’t paid wildly more.

I hope so. I like Prall. Principal turnover is so destabilizing. I suspect a Dr. B return would see a lot of teacher turnover.

I personally love Dr. B. She was such an integral part of the Lafayette community. I remember when I heard that she was leaving Lafayette, me and about 25 others in the area got together and had a healing/prayer circle since we were so distraught. It was a huge loss and crushing blow to the community. I haven’t fully recovered from it and probably never will. There are certain people in this world who are a shining light and a beacon of hope and Dr. B certainly personifies all of those positive things.

Dr. B enters the chat.

I have never understood why DCPS switches principals so often. It is destabilizing for the staff and community. They just don’t seem to value leadership and consistency. I really am unimpressed by the choices they make. And who they often hire for IS. The number who have been investigated in dc or other districts is mind boggling.

Well, the boundary study committee recommended reconsidering a paired Maury-Miner in the 2026-27 school year, saying that would allow for two years of stable leadership at both schools.

If Dr. B is pulled out of Miner, does the clock restart?

Tho I imagine this pairing is dead anyway - unless the next mayor really wants to start off with a big controversy on their hands.

Miner and Maury communities have been told that the merger proposal is dead.
