| Latest from beach week? 2026 version |
| All is quiet for DS. He’s with his buddies in Bethany though and they are definitely not into the party scene so things may be much different for others. |

Most are 18yrs of age when they go off for beach week.
More recently, A pair of teens who were of adult age were arrested following an altercation with Dewey Beach police in the early morning hours of May 28. Not sure how beach week is any different than what may happen when they go to college. If they are 18 they are legally an adult in this country. We don't necessarily hear of every adult whether they are 18 or 48 who get into this situation, do we? |

My kids want to go to college, and they want me to pay for college. Therefore, they know they are not going to beach week.
If they want to pay for their own college, or forgo college and move out and get a job, I’m sure they’d have a great time at beach week. We aren’t a trashy family. |

Trashy family here. DD is set to go to beach week in mid June. She is excited, in a house with other girls from senior year and two chaperone parents nearby.
I went to high school beach week and had a blast so I’m trashy too. Gotta pass it down. |
Lesson learned from that one is 1 – don’t steal from local stores. 2 – don’t publicly argue, disrupting the peace in the middle of the night and then give false identities to police 3 – don’t run from police. |
The craziness happens with all the public school kids down in Corolla. |
Yet all the evidence points to you being trashy. |

Parents are posting on here about what is essentially a vacation that they are not on. Are you going to fly helicopters over your kids' college campuses too?
Goodness, go on your own beach vacation. |
Oh realllllly? So these kids are using their credit cards with big limits to book beach rentals? They’re using their cash to stock the fridge for the week? They’re buying their own Ubers, booze, etc.? Alllllll on their own dime? Oh, wait. Let me fix that for you: parents are posting about what is essentially a vacation that THEY ARE PAYING FOR that they are not on. Congrats, because you used your credit card to book that rental, and you are violating the terms and conditions, and you are paying for alcohol, you’re on the hook. Hope you’re paying for STD treatments and abortions, too. Your kids are gonna need them. |
I'm not against beach week if done with chaperones or done with really responsible kids... but the poster above has a good point about finances. |

DS and his friend had a fun time at beach week. He had/has no interest in partying and relayed that some peers from their school were arrested or detained by police. It happens.
Dh and I both grew up in the area and went to beach week. It’s a tradition and lot of fun if your kid isn’t looking for trouble. After all, they’re going to be in college and making their own daily decisions in not too long. STDs don’t only happen at beach week. |
The binge drinking and “free love” atmosphere is heightened during Beach Week, and you know it. |
Yes, realllllly. Giving your kid a credit card for beach week doesn't mean it's normal to come posting on here about the "latest from beach week" as if you are there or something. Like it's your beach week. It's depressing. |

So yeah, I know it well. I also know that beach week is by no means some one mythical week where things are different and somehow *more.* My 20’s were a lot of fun. Assuming you have a senior, that individual will be making their own daily decisions without your direct oversight in not too long. |
