Dark spots

Redhead with freckles. I’ve been great about sunscreen and hats since my early 30s, but in my 50s I now have several sun spots on face, chest, and arms. I’ve used tretinoin for years, but that doesn’t seem to help with these. What actually works?

I am also a redhead with fair skin and freckles in my mid-50's. I used Muesli's Spot Cream on my hands for a couple of months and it really faded my age spots. I think they have a different cream for use on the face.

My Derm prescribed bleaching cream along with strict instructions.

I had one frozen/burned off my arm. Derm said she'd do it for my face as well, but it may scar. Since it's fairly light brown and covers with makeup I'm leaving it alone.

Musely has some options. I use it for 4-6 months, then take 6 months off before reassessing if I want to do another round.

My derm gave me a script for hydroquinone cream. I had to apply for 30 days. And then he instructed me to apply a 2nd dose. You have to be religious about applying sunscreen. My spots have really faded. I see my derm in a few weeks and I hope he notices.

OP here. Thanks for the suggestions. I am realizing that perhaps I need to just let this go and accept the spots.

If I get a cream to fade the dark spots, it seems that I'd have a white spot in the midst of my freckles so it would just appear as a different type of sun damage? I already have some white spots on shoulders and arms from horrid, blistered burns as a kid growing up on a lake.

I'm the red headed PP...Musely's spot cream did not create white spots for me. It just faded the age spots- some disappeared completely and a couple are lighter. It will also fade your freckles.

Find someone with a Picosecond Alexandrite laser. One and done for my sunspots on face and chest. Don't waste your time or money with creams.

There are lasers that will remove them. I wouldn't bother with topcial treatments. You need to see a derm (not a med spa) to see which laser is best for you. BBL, Pico Sure, Halo... There are many options.
