House bill rolls back food aid for pregnant women, children
Millions of WIC recipients would have less money for fruits and vegetables under the legislation, which funds the Agriculture Department and other agencies.

As grocery prices continue to rise nationally, the House on Thursday passed an appropriations bill that would cut funding for a program that helps pregnant women and children purchase healthy foods.
By a vote of 213-210, the House passed an appropriations measure to fund the Agriculture Department among other agencies. The bill, which the Senate has yet to consider, aims to cut about 1.5 percent from overall federal agriculture spending in fiscal 2027, according to Republicans. Four House Democrats voted with Republicans to pass the measure, while five Republicans voted against it.
Under the legislation, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children — more commonly known as WIC — would lose $141 million in funding for fruit and vegetable benefits for the nearly 5.4 million children and pregnant and postpartum women enrolled, according to an estimate from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Don't forget the money he's just shoving into his own pockets.

My brother and his wife were students when my nephew was born, WIC really made a huge difference in their lives, it allowed them to have my nephew and finish their degrees.

Let's get real, if you're a right winger I'll lay it out, programs like WIC reduce abortions. A family who isn't worried that they can't feed their baby is more likely to have that baby.

It not only reduces abortions but it also reduces the incidence of birth defects that are a lot more costly for society.

And the same people complaining about the declining birth rate will turn around and say "they were irresponsible for getting pregnant if they couldn't afford it." Never mind food prices are soaring. Never mind making kids a luxury item will mean fewer children.
