Where would you live w/in 30 minute commute to UDC if you didn’t have school aged kids?

Anonymous
We are moving to the DMV. I will commute 4 days/week to the UDC stop on the redline. My husband works from home. We don’t need to worry about the school systems. I want a commute of 30 minutes or less by car or metro (but can commute at off hours to beat traffic).

We want a 3-4 bedroom home (master, offices and room for our adult kids to visit). We also want lots of yard/garden space and would love access to walking trails (my husband loves to walk on breaks from his WFH job and prefers nature, if possible. Basically, we like to live a bit further out and have more land/nature, but my job will anchor us near DC. Where can we get that nature-y feel within 30 minutes of NW? Please suggest neighborhoods or zipcodes. Thanks!

Potomac in Maryland.

Lots of neighborhoods in upper NW DC have what you’re looking for. Crestwood and Palisades would each be a 20 min drive to UDC

The only thing that matters here is budget OP.

Op here. Sorry! I can’t believe I didn’t write price. Top of range is 1.4.

Kensington is a good recommendation, though I think 30 minutes is a bit aspirational for a commute time from Kensington even during off hours (unless off hours means 10 PM to 6 AM). Google maps puts the range for most of the day at 20-40 minutes.

Carderock Springs neighborhood in Bethesda.

forest hills or crestwood dc. you could walk from forest hills. both are lovely, nestled in nature/rock creek park with single family homes.

Glenallen which is adjacent to Brookside Gardens would be perfect and is 28 minutes to the UDC parking garage with light traffic. I’m taking you at your word that you’re willing to go during off hours. 8 AM on a weekday would be much much more.

Forest Glen is another area to look in.
