Smithsonian camps still have some spots

I just needed to exchange a week and was pleasantly surprised to find some sporadic availability other weeks. If you still need camp, you might find a week that works for you!

Watch out what week you pick though if you need to drive. Weeks 1-3 coincide with a lot of the 250 events on the Mall. They haven’t given us any instructions but I am dreading drop off and pickup those weeks. Will likely persist into Week 4 and beyond as they start taking everything down.

Then we get to August and the Indy car race but at least that’s the first week of DCPS so won’t cause any issues (sarcasm).

That's good to know. How long does drop off and pickup take? I have an 11 year old. Do I need to go in and get her checked in every day?

Logistics are a nightmare. I don't recommend.

Smithsonian logistics are great if you are already metroing downtown for work. Parents have to sign kids in and out.

The drop off is right near the Smithsonian metro exit. My kid used to go and I would drop her then hop back on metro to go to work. It was close enough that if I needed to go back to work after pickup, I could do that and she’d just sit and read a book. It was fun to commute with her for a week!
Are they still doing the Harry Potter camp? That was her favorite and really well done with integrating the Smithsonian clllectkpsn.
