I have 2 kids that I have been driving them around during school year for their interests, and some on weekday nights and some on weekend. Do you take a break or continue to sign up those interests in the summer if they are enrolled in summer full day camps?
I think my kids do not mind at all, but we also want a break as parents in the summer. I am told for some interests, they will lose skills if they do not continue or practice at home by self in summer months. |
| My child does activities he enjoys. He enjoys them just as much in the summer as during the school year, so we keep going (except his sport that doesn't practice in the summer). |

Violin is a year round activity.
Horseback riding isn't, because it's too darn hot for us. But for others it is. It's all up to you and your family, OP. |

We ease down on music but keep a little.
What is the interest? |
| We keep up instrument lessons, but other stuff tends to get replaced by camps. |
| My 14 year old is doing musical theater camps and then taking 2-3 hours of dance classes Monday through Thursday. We find the driving exhausting, but honestly, she is completely miserable sitting around at home. |
| We keep up with music (we would lose our timeslot otherwise and I think he would regress). We drop a lot of other stuff and replace it with camps and swim team. We do use camps to explore and meet other interests like art, theater, other sports, etc. |
| My 15 year old keeps up with her instrument and this year chose to take a geometry class. She loves math, but with ADHD struggles in class so wants to prep for next year. |
