I’m not a household that lets my 16yo curse so I’m straddling the line on if I’m being too prudish with clutching my pearls over “frick you” and “what the frick”. I tended not to allow my older kids to say “what the __” so I’m trying to be reasonable given the rise of internet type language (bruh, bro, fuhhh, etc)
Do you allow “frick”? |
| Also - not saying it toward adults but fellow friends in his peer group |
| is bruh saying the word or just feick? |
| be like lil lil bruh bro stop |
| I would not allow that |
|
My 8 year old says "what the heck?" or sometimes just "what the?" I am fine with it because she just uses it to express surprise or bewilderment, like if her pen stops working or the door won't latch. And she's not saying an actual swear word or even something that sounds like a swear word (at least to me).
I would be borderline on "what the frick?" If it was used the way my kid is using "what the heck?" I might allow it because it's not mean, but it's very close to the real swear, so I don't know. What I would absolutely not permit under any circumstances would be "frick you" or anything similar. That's rude even if it's not a swear. It's an insult, it's mean, it's disrespectful. Totally unacceptable language and there is no way to make it okay even swapping other words in for "frick". |

What the frick … okay
Frick you … not okay but I wouldn’t go overboard |
| I'd be fine with what the heck but not what the frick. And I curse like a mofo when around adults only. |
| What the heck, what the, are both ok. What the frick is not. |
| no, any version with frick is not appropriate for a 7 year old. i don't particularly like hearing it from any age person. |
| Very low class and crude |
|
I would not let it fly because its in place of the obvious word. I also don't let my kid say " what the" for the same reason.
My kid is a teen now and still doesnt use those words out loud ifo me or other adults/family members. |

I don’t care about bro/bruh as long as they aren’t referring to their father or me that way.
But absolutely no to what the frick |
At least teach little one to spell it correctly |
This. I don't mind a surprised exclamation that might contain a rude word. But we do not curse AT anybody. Ever. Even with softer words substituted in. |
