Which county public schools in Maryland have boys volleyball programs?

Chatgpt:

As of 2026, boys' varsity volleyball is still relatively limited in Maryland public schools. The counties with established countywide public-school boys volleyball programs are:

Montgomery County
All 25 MCPS high schools field varsity boys volleyball teams.
The sport is well established and includes regular-season play and county championships.

Harford County
Harford County also has a countywide boys volleyball program at its public high schools.

According to Maryland Boys High School Volleyball, these are currently the only two Maryland counties with established public-school boys volleyball programs.

A Howard County parent told me that their county cannot add boys’ volleyball because the boys’ football teams have large rosters, and they cannot add another boys’ sport without increasing the disparity between boys’ and girls’ participation in sports.

With the advent of flag football for girls it seems most school systems should be able to add another boys program that is small such as boys volleyball. Possibly more of a budgetary issue.

Also, in most high schools, boys football is no cut. Hence the large rosters.
