Gonal F side effects?

Anonymous
I had really bad hot flashes while on clomid and progesterone makes my skin break out. Just starting gonal f today, can I expect more of the same? Anything I should be aware of? Interesting, I'm at CFA and I feel like I got more instructions on how to use the trigger shot than I have for the gonal injections that I have to take multiple doses of. I got the instructions off of freedom pharmacy but I still don't know what to expect for side effects. TIA!

Hi.

Of course everyone is different, but I had the same reactions to Clomid. I felt like i was going through menopause!

on Gonal F (and the other IUI/IVF medications) i had hardly any side effects at all. Som bruising from the injection site with the microdose lupon, but nothing too emotional or physical.

GOOD LUCK!

I had no side effects on Gonal F. I did, however, have horrible side effects with Clomid and Prometrium. With Clomid, I am one of those rare cases that has the blurred vision side effect. I was seeing streaks of light. I could only take for three days before I was taken off. I also had the heat flashes. With prometrium, I have had mood changes, nausea, and fatigue. Gonal F was great compared to those other drugs. FWIW, I got pregnant on my first round of Gonal F. I am currently 11 weeks.

I never had the horrible side effects from FSH (Gonal F) like I did with Clomid and Lupron (hot flashes, moodiness). The worst side effect I had was feeling very swollen and a bit sore in my ovaries.

OP here, thanks everyone! We're still trying TI. Anyone know the success rates? No real male factor issues, low morphology but high count so we still have a good chance there.

@ OP - I experienced the same side effects on Clomid, but didn't have any with Gonal-F. As far as whether it will work, everyone is different. I am in the same boat as you. Everything's normal except for low morph. We had one failed IUI, one MC on IUI#2, and of course now our first failed IVF. We're moving on to IVF#2 shortly. Best of luck to you and just know that everyone is different so what works for one, may not work for the other. I know how it is though wanting to hear success stories from those that have similar issues. It gives us a sense of hope and I think all of us going through this need it. Best of luck to you.
