| I've heard that every year there is a Halloween "event" for kids in Chevy Chase DC (on CT Ave) where the stores give out candy during the afternoon - does anyone have any information about that this year? What time, etc? Thanks! |

This year's Halloween Spooktacular, the annual event where merchants along the
Chevy Chase corridor on Connecticut Avenue welcome trick-or-treating, is scheduled for Saturday, October 30th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The Chevy Chase Citizens Association will be handing out treats in front of the Avalon Theatre. Hope to see you there! The Halloween Spooktacular is organized by the merchants themselves. A couple years ago, the CCCA selected Robert and Brigid Gillette, the owners of Pumpernickel's Deli, the primary organizers of the event, for a Grass Roots Award from the D.C. Federation of Civic Associations. Here is a link to the item about the award in our October 2008 Newsletter (pg. 3), which describes the origins of the Halloween Spooktacular - http://www.chevychasecitizens.org/news/newsletters/101008.pdf . For a calendar of upcoming community events, such as the Halloween Spooktacular, visit the CCCA's Web site at www.chevychasecitizens.org/events. |
