Good neighborhoods in NYC

I am a 53year old single woman. I am planning to move to nyc. What is a good neighborhood? Any advice?

This is remarkably vague and I don't know why I'm wasting my time responding but here goes:

Budget?
Are you working? If so, where?
Race/religion/any other factors?
Where are you moving from?
Any other interests that could influence your decision?
Preference for type of building? High rise? Mid-rise? Doorman? Buy? Rent?

Otherwise I will just say Mott Haven or Tottenville and leave it at that.

UES if preppy, UWS if into culture, Brooklyn Heights if not quite either but you need convenience, Park Slope if all of those are too expensive, Clinton Hill/Fort Greene if you need something hipper, Downtown Brooklyn if you must have a new build luxury building.

If this is not a troll post I agree, we need more info to give good advice. And budget is really everything.
