Yearbook signing?

Do kids no longer sign yearbooks ? My sophmore DD got hers yesterday and said no one really signs them anymore. I remember that being such a big deal (in all grades) during those last days when things wind down. It's fun looking back and seeing notes / inside jokes from the 80s/90s.

If anything, they write a very short message or just their name. My friends and I used to take each other’s home and write 12 page letters.

My tween and teen are at a private, but they absolutely sign yearbooks still.

My dd is a Hs senior and didn’t get signatures until this year. Not sure why, but I thought it was strange.

Why would a sophomore get a yearbook? I thought those are just for seniors.

Mine do (but it’s mostly kids writing HAGS).

They write HAGS! and sign their name. It's so dumb.

Don't push her on that. Kids may just not have signed hers.

Teacher at an MCPS HS- it’s typical for seniors to get signatures and other grades to not care as much until they’re seniors themselves.

A lot of non seniors don’t even buy year books themselves.

I’m guessing most of them can hardly write by hand anymore. Maybe that is part of it.

None of my kids wanted yearbooks in HS, even as seniors. I still bought them for my older kids senior year because I placed a yearbook ad. I doubt they even looked at them, much less had anyone sign. My current senior specifically told me he didn’t want me to place an ad or buy the yearbook. This time I listened. When they were little we bought elementary school yearbooks. They had fun looking through those but no signatures either. I remember what a big deal signing yearbooks was in the 80s

Why would they be just for seniors? The yearbook includes kids in every grade. I had one each year, as did most everyone I knew.

My kid (a junior) has gotten his yearbook signed and signed those of other kids each year. Maybe it depends on the school?

I’m npt “pushing” she picked it up (a day after most) and said she was bummed that no one brought them back / people weren’t signing. She’s pretty involved and though has ups / downs with friends she is not sitting alone at lunch either (I have a younger Dd and that’s more of a worry)

I’ve had them for all years as do my kids, need to pay but nice to have. They feature all grades
