I keep seeing the names Hans Wydler and Dana Rice. We would like to buy in the village and are in no hurry. Does anyone recommend either of these realtors or have insight? Appears we need someone in the know as a lot of homes are sold before hitting the market.

For Chevy Chase Village specifically, you should definitely consider Liz Lavette Shorb. She’s really established and well connected and always knows about what’s coming up pre-market. It seems like the majority of her deals are off market.
Dana Rice is probably better as a seller’s agent that as a buyer’s agent. Buyers seem to get passed on to her team members, who on the whole a less experienced. Dana also seems to specialize in representing sellers who are older and downsizing and just want to hand over the reins to Dana so she can paint their home white and bring in her standard staging furniture.
Don’t know much about the Wylder brothers, but they come off as pompous in their advertising imo.
Compass, WFP, and Sotheby’s seem to do most transactions in the Village, so at minimum go with one of their agents. A nice perk with WFP is that they have special access to all of the Compass “private exclusive” listings and the Compass online platform.

What’s your price range? Some agents specialize in specific tiers of homes. In CCV, at the $4m+ range, you should talk to Michael Rankin, for example. I also see some Long & Foster agents in the under $2m range. Look at what has sold in CCV in the past couple years in your price range and see what agents were involved in those transactions.

We used Liz last year for our home sale and for the first time in 29 years, felt like we had an agent who got us a much better price than anyone else would have and took care of us. Highest recommendation.

Are any of these realtors just trying to get the quickest sale? I've met Dana around town a few times. She knows our neighborhood well, everyone says, and when we sell in a couple of years, we were thinking of calling her. But if she's just interested in painting/staging/quick sale, maybe not?

Thoughts on Eric Murtagh and his common law wife Karen Kuchins? They recently teamed up with that grand dame Melinda Estridge.

Dana does an impressive marketing campaign for each house. My neighbors in 20816 have used Dana's services as sellers, and have been very satisfied with Dana.
