| Can you be happy there and feel included if you don't drink? |
| Drinking what? The kool aid? |
| DD is looking but I heard it was a HUGE party school. |
The Kool Aid that’s pumped through the Bucknell pipes that lead to The Street. |
Why would you try? |
| She will drink. |
| Every college has kids who don't drink, kids who socially drink and kids who binge drunk. Every. Single. One. This includes Bucknell |
Brigham Young? |
lol yes, just fewer drinkers and they get really good at hiding it. |
+1 I have a friend with a son at Liberty and this is indeed true. Plenty of kids drink there too. |
Of course this is true, but it doesn’t negate the fact that some schools have more of a partying and drinking culture. |
|
There is a lot of drinking at Bucknell. There’s not much else to do there. A non-drinker will find other non-drinkers but the social life there is mostly centered around drinking.
Not enough to strike it from your list but good to know if you are considering the school. |

I have a non-drinker at a mid-size private near a city. My other is at a rural school, wish they were a non-drinker but they aren’t. I personally think location is biggest issue, having enough going on outside of parties but also not too big of a city that you lose campus culture as too much to do.
I’m not familar enough with Bucknell’s location, but just sharing in case helpful. |
| Bucknell is a huge drinking school. My close friend’s daughter just finished freshman year and thinks it’s so great how the frats have all the mixed drinks labeled with their ingredients. This is what the mom thinks! It’s a ton of partying or being left out. Sorry. |
Did the student at the rural school go in as a non-drinker? |
