| My friend's elderly father died in winter and she wants to have an estate sale. Does anyone know if any companies that will handle the entire process for her from start to finish? Thanks in advance! |
| Not worth it. Just donate everything. |
This. People get delusional about fancy junk. We were shocked at how little things are worth. Just donate, get the tax deduction and feel good about doing something charitable. |
Where does she live? |

Call Great Falls Organizers - they can coordinate everything from giveaway, junk or estate sale and have the option to push the bill to the sale of the home..

| Does she understand that an estate sale will cost her money, not make it? |
| Sometimes it's the easiest way to get things out. Might not make money but don't have to deal getting the basement couch out of the house. |

Thanks everyone! She's in Gaithersburg. She is not worried about making money, she just needs the help of getting it all done and gone! She is single with no family in town to help and works a job that is now 100 hours a week due to government cuts and travels.
She is my best friend but I live out of town with young kids or I'd do it! |
| Have her price straight-up junk hauler-- some of them will recycle and donate what they can (plus get old sofas out of the basement and on to the junkyard). And they're fast |

I would suggest Caring Transitions: https://www.caringtransitions.com/locations/mode/rockville-md

| We used an estate sale service to clean out my Dad's home. They decided what to donate, what to trash, and what to sell. They subtracted their fee from the money that was made. We made a little but it was super easy to let someone else handle it all. Sorry I don't have the name, but it was not in the DC area. |
I would just go on marketplace. We had some nice pieces and were lucky to get $100 for each of them. People just don't want to spend on antiques. |
| Are you guys kidding? I have a part time business just buying things out of estates. Don't donate it, OP. There's probably a lot of valuable things in the estate. You need a professional to sort through it all. |
| Ask on the local city sub reddit. More likely to be people who live in the area than an DCUM. Yes, there are places that will handle everything and pay out from the sale. Of they don't think it is worth it, they don't want to waste their time and will tell you |
Ha! The estate sales company we hired for my ILs' house skimmed off the easily sellable and didn't bother to open a suitcase full of silver. Do most houses have a suitcase full of silver? I'm guessing no. What were my ILs thinking? No idea. But I don't think the estate sales company even bothered to go in that room. |
