Nose biopsy—Plastic surgeon or dermatologist?

I was At the dermatologist last week and they identified a spot on my nose that they recommended getting biopsied. They indicated either they can perform biopsy or I can pursue a plastic surgeon to do it. Has anyone else been in this situation and if so, what did you choose? Were you happy with the results? Am concerned about scarring since it is on my face.

Just got my stitches out yesterday. I went with a plastic surgeon. I think I will be satisfied with the results. I can’t say happy because of the size of the spot but the best it could be.

Not on my nose - on my shoulder. The doc gave me the option too and 15 years later I still regret not going with a plastic surgeon due to the scar. I would definitely talk to a plastic surgeon for my nose! Good luck!

Thank you all for responding!! Does anyone have any recommendations of plastic surgeons you have used for skin biopsies on the face that they would recommend? Anywhere in McLean, Arlington, Falls Church would be great but also willing to travel to DC/MD or further out in Fairfax. TIA!

Not the previous poster, but I was recommended to and saw Dr Mary Ella Carter for this type of procedure.
