Thank you gift - Sunday school teacher

Anonymous
Do you give an end of year/ thank you gift to religious school teachers? What's appropriate? Seems weird to gift a Grandma a target gift card like I would for the school teacher.

You could dedicate a mass in her name.

I usually write them a nice thank you card. You can give her a bouquet of flowers.

I'm a Sunday School teacher (a parent, not a grandma) and our church gives us a flower while acknowledging us during the children's moment and does a little volunteer appreciation party ice cream party to at the end of the year. That's plenty. A verbal thank you from a parent or a note from a kid would be great, though.

I write a nice note, which is also what I do for my kids teachers at school. I agree that a Target gift card feels weird. On the other hand, my husband always says, “If you thought of doing it for someone, there’s your answer.” Meaning, if you thought of getting someone the Target gift card, just go ahead and do it!

These teachers volunteer their time. At the very least, they deserve a thank you note. I always included a gift card.

This is good advice. I like it.

We do a thank you card at the end of the year and a christmas card. we usually put a target gift card in one of those. Sunday school at our church is a nominal cost and the teachers are all volunteers. We also have given card/gift card to the director of religious ed if they have been involved (like first communion year)

I usually do a gift card for a bakery or lunch place near the church that I know people go to for lunch or to get breakfast sometimes before or after church.
