| My child is a 7th grader at Frost and the things he tells me are truly scary. Daily fights in the bathrooms, threatening behavior, vaping, drugs. He had run ins with some kids. The admin is responsive but the plans they put in place to separate the bully from the victim are never enforced. Are you hearing the same things from Hoover and Cabin John? We are renters so thinking of moving over the summer. |
| Kids from rich families with lots of money and checked out parents. |
| My DD went there and transferred out after six weeks and I put her in private school for same reasons. |
| If you can move to a more affordable area of the county and Go private do it. It’s only gonna get worse in high school and MCPS is not in a good position anyway. |
No it's the apartments |
| My daughter is an 8th grader at frost and my older daughter went there as well. Vaping in the bathrooms is at every middle school. It can’t be escaped. I have always been open with my kids early on about the dangers of vaping etc and it’s no issue. Fights unfortunately are more common since covid. dr. Jones is a world class principal. I wouldn’t trade him for the world. |
What a dog whistle. |
OP here. I sincerely doubt it. |
Standard flippant response. |
Sorry, that was referring to the previous remark about kids from rich families. |

Welcome to the secondary school experience in MCPS. The things you described at Frost are happening across the board at most of the middle and high schools in MCPS.
MCPS knows and doesn't care. |
It's not an either or thing. Both of these types of problem children exist and stir up trouble in MCPS. |

My kids went to Hoover. I had always thought of Hoover and Frost as basically the same, and Churchill and Wootton as different in culture but equally safe/good. But this last year or so, I've heard a lot of disturbing things about Wootton and my kids have really had no trouble at Churchill.
It's true that vaping (and by HS harder drugs) will be in the bathrooms everywhere. There are also some fights and bad behavior everywhere. When my kids were at Hoover I heard about a couple of fights a year (usually just off school grounds). At Churchill, maybe that's happening but my kid hasn't told me about any and we haven't received any letters home this year or I think the last couple of years. I can't say for sure that Churchill is 'safer' but I've been happy to have my kids there the last few years. That said, I think Wootton is a great school. Great teachers, driven kids, good clubs and activities. Over the prior years, I mostly wished we lived in the Wootton district because of more diversity and a smaller % of entitled kids. But the last few years seem to have had problems. |
problem parents. |
| My uptight Goody Two Shoes hasn't reported this. |
