My doctor is suggesting I go on this. I’m interested in hearing personal experiences with this drug.
|
| I had mild side effects. Some stiffness and hot flashes. Not too bad over all. My attitude was that they were worth trying. Good luck. |
| r/breastcancer is where you want to go. Tons of personal experiences and well moderated forum. |
| I had a lot of stiffness, that improved dramatically once I started supplementing with vitamin D. |
| NP - which aromatase inhibitor s causing stiffness? |
| What about aging? Supposedly you look a lot older bc of the lost estrogen |
I was worried about this, but I don’t think it’s made any difference. I also worried about thinning hair and other side effects, but the only thing I’ve noticed is some muscle stiffness after I’ve been sitting a while. Other than that, no issues. |
| How long are you on it typically |
+1. I had a really bad reaction to my first aromatase inhibitor. My vitamin D was around 30 when I went on it without supplementing with D or Calcium. My D dropped to 20 - which is very deficient and had a real negative impact. I stopped. I took massive doses of vitamin D to quickly get my D up to 60 before trying again The second try (of the same AI) was not a problem. So substantially different The package insert says to test for Vitamin D levels before starting medications. Endocrinologists and breast cancer doctors generally recommend in the vitamin D around 40-60 in order to promote bone and prevent cancer. I test every 2-3 months now - a CMP (which has calcium and alkaline phosphatase), PTH and vitamin D and supplement to maintain proper range for all 3. |
| Anyone try Raloxefene? My dr recommended this one as safer for people with retina issues. |
| Letrozole has been fine. |
Everyone is different. Letrozole was terrible for me. Exemestane is better. |
