MacArthur High School

It sounds like there was an armed robbery there yesterday. Quote from the local ANC commissioner below. Does anyone have any additional information?

“I spoke to a member of MPD about the report below. While no offenses should be minimized, especially those involving guns, this one was between several students on campus, and the investigation is active and should be closed imminently. I was assured no residents, businesses or other members of the community were targets. The police report will be available shortly, and we'll request Captain Haskis speak to the incident at the June ANC meeting.”

[referenced alert below]

Alert: MPD Units are investigating a Armed Robbery in the 4500 block of MacArthur Blvd NW. Lookout for: Suspect (1) black male, 16 yoa, 5'-0", dark complexion, last seen wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, black shoes, and armed with a handgun, Suspect (2) black female, 17-18 yoa, 5'-0", light complexion, last seen wearing gray sweatpants, tatoo on neck. both were last seen heading on MacArthur Blvd, NW

This is terrible. There's never anyone watching these delinquents. The staff is always inside the school and the students are outside doing drugs. Terrible, they need a new principal.

The staff are inside the school teaching, meeting with students, etc. It isnt their job to patrol the neighborhood. And if they did they would be leaving their classes unattended which is not allowed.

Sounds like beef between students. No one should be bringing weapons to school.

Is there any insight as to how to interpret this data? https://schoolreportcard.dc.gov/lea/1/school/1294/report/explore/104

All the information is percentage based, but does not appear to sum to 100.

It was after school, no? At our middle school the admin and teachers monitor what's going on outside before and after school. Maybe that's not a thing for high school?

Literally the only way to get expelled here is to bring a gun to school. Everyone involved should be gone.

Gone yesterday. I hope the parents are pushing VERY hard to fix this. Can anyone update? This kind of crap will be the death of the school. Some of us who were approaching sending our kids there with trepidation about the academics will absolutely not see MacArthur as an option if this stuff is going on.

We need more transparency from Principal. We need to be informed about what's happening inside the school other opción , let someone else do the job properly,. Parents Parents have the right to know. What's happening.

We are considering moving IB to send out DC to this school. Is Macarthur ‘safer’ than JR?

Didn't the Principal send out communication?

Should this be inferred that JR is worse than MacArthur? Should we move IB for BCC?
