Prestigious but High Acceptance Rate Schools?

Anonymous
Seeking to make a list of schools that are generally well-known, respected, or have strong “name recognition” but are not ultra-selective.

I’ve heard Penn State and Purdue are two. What are others?

Yes, Oxymoron College.

Prestigious, easy to get into, cheap.

Also imaginary.

someone started this thread a few days ago. Not prestigious... but respected or something like that. And responses were similarly mean.

In my opinion: Macalaster and Oberlin and Bryn Mawr. For state school Rutgers, UConn, and Delaware

All need-aware privates are in this category if you are full pay and apply ED.

Of course we're mean. Because most universities are in that category, so it's not useful to add a extraneous label to the norm.

Carleton is prestigious but not as crazy selective as ivies. 20% acceptance rate is reasonable.

Case Western is prestigious, acceptance rate around 35%. Rochester is similar.

The true acceptance rate at each of West Point and Annapolis is around 50%.

Oberlin, Rutgers, RPI

UMD and VT are more prestigious than CWRU and have acceptance rates of 45 and 55%

You are going to get crucified here for the word prestigious. Let’s say “fantastic schools” and move forward.
