Who could have predicted that destabilizing our energy sources could lead to inflation?

Inflation Accelerates After Weeks of War in Iran
The Consumer Price Index rose 3.8% in April from a year earlier as higher energy costs replaced tariffs as the driver of higher prices for Americans.

Consumer prices in the United States rose at the fastest rate since May 2023 last month, as sharp increases in energy costs caused by war in the Middle East made life more expensive for American consumers.

The Consumer Price Index rose 3.8 percent in April from a year earlier, the Labor Department reported on Tuesday, up from a 2.4 percent annual increase before the conflict started in February and a 3.3 percent increase in March.

The increase was driven largely by energy prices, up 3.8 percent since the previous month. But the “core” index, stripping out volatile food and energy prices, also rose 2.8 percent over the year in April, up from 2.6 percent in March.

As the heat from President Trump’s tariffs has faded from inflation readings this year, shortages of commodities blocked from transiting through the Strait of Hormuz are taking its place as a pressure on prices. Average gasoline prices are above $4.50 per gallon, according to AAA, while diesel prices have nearly doubled.

As opposed to the destabilization caused by Iran nuking one of its neighbors. Clearly, they have shown the propensity to lash out at anyone and everyone in recent weeks.

Yeah, 29 billion spent on a pointless war no one wanted and 3.8% inflation.
This sucks.

Oh please. They didn’t have a nuke, they weren’t try to get a nuke (if you listen to the US intelligence analysts and not Bibi’s nonsense) and nothing we have done has done significant damage to their nuclear sites.

Oh look what a surprise— Trump has been lying and Iran has almost all of its missile capacity.

This war is the single dumbest mistake any US president has ever made. We are spending tens of billions to make ourselves less safe, make the Iranians more powerful and ruin our economy. Congrats MAGA!

How much is $100,000 before 25 years, say year 2000 equivalent to today in 2026?

I feel the golden time of America as the land of opportunities and the American Dream has passed.

It costs me $60-$75 to fill up my car now. I started a job with a lengthy commute in February, weeks before this war began.

What are we trying to achieve again? Remember they said it would be a few weeks? Like they said about lockdown.

This decade is TRASH.

Close, but the Iraq war was worse- because of the hundreds of thousands dead being added on. Quite the competition though.

True. Inflation from COVID never went down because, turns out it was actually corporate greed. They will never lower prices. Monopolies are unreal, insider trading, cEo pay, etc. etc. all the money is going to the wrong places and coming from the wrong people.
