Should I make a donation?

Background: We reside overseas and have attended top-tier international schools for my child's entire educational experience so far (she's currently in Grade 5). We are returning back to the D.C. area in 2027 and are planning to apply for her admission to several independent schools. I know they will be looking into our backgrounds to an extent, but will they contact her current school to see if we are donors? We always donate to all capital campaigns, the PTA, etc. but we do so anonymously due to restrictions with my spouse's job. Would making another donation this year but attaching my name to it help in the admissions process for DC private schools? Does anyone know if schools get this granular with their background checks?

They aren’t going to care that much unless your donations are 6 figures.

Schools care about donations, but more importantly for admissions they care of a. What is your current paycheck b. If you are a high power individual that typically likes to donate to show off.

No, they don’t care if you donated in a school overseas. They don’t check that information, because it’s difficult to obtain.

To finish, I donate very little money and my kid go accepted at a competitive school without problems.
