Submitting SAT Scores 56% 1,022
Submitting ACT Scores 21% 385 (15%-20% submit both) 25%-50%-75% 1,520 1,550 1,570 This is the last cycle of TO applicants. There are a lot of athletes at Stanford. |

The 60,000 applicants to Stanford...now go back and crawl under your lonely rock. |
|
| Fall 25 applicants were required to send ACT/SAT scores AND AP scores. |
The CDS quoted is from 2025-2026 current freshmen, so last class TO. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GIPKgVj1d86dkmLkHI_mZVCk_iY6kiCp/view |
Interesting. I also know from my parent friend group of two legacy female students got into Stanford were TO this term. One is majoring in Gender studies and the other in Sociology. They do have strong GPAs, but no test scores. ECs are standard strong but they did use essay coaches to help them pull their application/narrative together. |
To clarify they are freshman now, so they applied a year ago. |
|
Like every other T15 which went back to testing, watch the 25th percentile retreat to 1460 or so and median float down to 1530.
|
| I have a friend who hired a counselor so kid can apply as sociology major to Stanford. Her kid will apply in 2028. |
| Stanford reinstated required testing for this fall (2026) so is hardly “still leaning in to TO” |
Right...I was confused by the OP as well. It's funny that most schools realize they need to move away from TO to maintain academic standards for the expectations they have as an institution all the while UC schools go test blind. That is so backwards crazy. |
The OP factually stated this was the last reported class for test optional. Leaning in to TO...meaning while they are phasing it out for next year (as the OP stated) that didn't stop Stanford from filling 1/3rd of their class TO, which is huge for a T5 college. |
