5th grade graduation around the corner!
Deciding between DC International (DCI) for the 6th-12th grade journey (mom resides in DC) or Thomas Pyle MS and Walt Whitman HS (dad resides in Bethesda). Biracial child whose into sports, art and friends…go! |
| How important is dual language to you? Did your child go to a DCI feeder? If so and you want to keep that language, I would stick with DCI. But if you are not looking g for that level of socialized language instruction, I think your child will get a better education at Pyle/Whitman. |

i think it depends whether your child will thrive in a large, hyper-competitive environment.
We left before DCI because we hoped one child would get into specialized program in MCPs. they did and had a very good experience. However younger child who is a strong student but not a standout is a different story. They are a good student but not a standout--and they really internalized a lot of status-y rat-race nature of college admissions and it has totally undermined their confidence. That child would have been better off staying at DCI. |
| Whitman has to be light years better than any public option in DC |
| Biracial child needs to be at DCI. Not sure why my earlier post got deleted about this. It’s like when parents of color are looking out for other parents of color and we get censored. |
