4th Grade Math Map 239

The score is in SIS now. Just a number in test history. No document available.
DS is a transferred student. First time taking MAP. Is this score good or just normal, or bad?
DS said he got some problems about negative number and exponent that he didn't remember his teacher talked about at class. So he just did his best guess.

You don’t need to worry about scores in elementary schools unless they are totally failing. It doesn’t matter.

Worry about high school when it counts.

If I didn't pay enough attention on my child's scores in elementary school, I surely will worry a lot about his high school scores in the future.

Grades and what’s happening in class are more important than standardized tests at this level. Talk to the teacher.

Remember that this is an adaptive test. If he gets questions correct, he will get harder questions. It's a 3-5 grade test. So there will be questions he hasn't covered in class yet.

The MAP is designed to go above grade level if students demonstrate proficiency in grade level standards, so it should always end with questions they don't know.

I found this. It looks like 4th grade 239 falls in lower advanced

Any test which goes beyond grade-level really needs to be limited, or eliminated, in FCPS.
