Brann leaving Shirley Chisholm

Anonymous
Heard Principal Jasmine Brann is leaving Shirley Chisholm next year. She is well liked and just won an award for outstanding principal. AP Arranz will be the new principal.

Given that Chisholm is going into modernization and a swing space next year, what are parents and teachers thinking about this second transition? Can Arranz handle moving into the swing space?

I mean, they have to handle it, right? Like what are the other options?

There was another thread about this. She's going to be the head of a private high school in Takoma. Can't blame her, but also... crappy year to leave a school.

We are considering sending our kid to chisholm. But are worried this may be too much for a new principal to handle well and might not go there anymore. Wish we knew more about ap arranz.

Every interaction I’ve had with Arranz has been wonderful, and I have no doubt she is more than capable of managing the transition to the swing space. FWIW, I was not particularly confident in Dr. Brann’s logistical planning skills re: the move — she is WONDERFUL in many ways but these types of details have not been one of them, in my opinion, so I’m more than willing to give Arranz a shot based on my experiences with her. We very seriously considered switching schools but in the end have decided to stay at Chisholm because we love the school, love the community, and our child is thriving there such that we think any short-term pain of the swing space is worth it for the long-term gain.

I think that this is an excellent opportunity for Arrant to showcase everything that she has learned within decades of educational service. Plus, Reyes from Dunbar has a plethora of experience in a large cap project. With Reyes and Arranz, I do not see a better duo. I am speaking in the lens of a former PK4 parent who had there student at Military RD ELC. Arranz and Reyes are nothing but true workhorses to there craft.
