| Now that the new age rules are implemented and kids are finishing try outs - what club are you with, age, and is that club forcing your Aug-Dec kid to play down or were they given a choice to play on their current team under the new rules? Don’t want a repeat of that earlier nonsense thread, this thread is only for actual offers, not speculation/guesses/nonsense. Where are you ( only Aug-Dec kids) did you get offer with current team, or did your DC get forced to repeat the year? |
| Forced to repeat on B team. It stinks. August Bday so a grade up. Very unhappy. |
| Aug bday- repeating age group, moved from b to A. (Would of happened if went to older age anyway) |
| December birthday. Repeating age group, which we wanted. Went from only team at small club to A team are larger club. |
|
Two kids, both affected by the age change. We’re at a large club with 4-6 teams per age group.
August birthday U9. Repeating age group and no option to stay up, but kid is redshirted so the new age group aligns with the grade. Going from A team to A team. October bday U12. Repeating age group and no option to stay up. Going from B team to A team. |
| So rebranding and recycling another ECNL age change thread? |
|
Some kids in our club get to stay w their current age group VS aging down.
Both are really good players. But for the most part, kids are moving down vs stying w current team. Only exceptional kids are staying up. |

Our club didnt let any Aug birthdays play down unless they specifically reached out to the younger level coach and asked if they could join that team. Then it was like trying out for a new team.
Parents are pissed and trying out at other clubs. |
This is what I assumed would happen. Its much easier to do nothing. Then fight it out with parents and players individually. |
| September birthday. DD is playing with girls all a full grade younger than her. Repeating U12. |
| Club has everyone trying out for their new age group. They did let a few try out for both, but you had to tryout for both. U12, repeating U12, went from second team to first team. 2/3 of new first team are repeating U12s. It's probably pretty jarring for rising U12 first team families. |
| December birthday. They asked us to tryout for U9 again, which was probably for the best. If we went to U10 we probably would have landed on a low level team, U9 gives us the opportunity to play at a higher level. It’s funny, just being born a few months earlier would have put us at a disadvantage. Feels like the time year you were born makes you a first team player. My kid is destined for greatness! |
| U12 DD, repeating age group, moved up one level team in 6-team club. Pretty much what we expected. |
| November. Repeating. Went from 3rd to 1st team. |
Wouldn't repeating/being among the oldest make being on a B team less likely? Maybe your kid just isn't that good. |
