parents here who are anti weed and psychedelics, how old are you?

Anonymous
I use both to help with my PTSD. I obviously don't go on a mushroom trip while I am caring for my children. I am 31 and my kids are elementary age and are at their Fathers house every weekend which allows me to explore it.

Most of the people I know (working professionals, fellow teachers, normal people around my age) do these. Most of us don't drink much at all. This board freaked out when I mentioned weed once, so I want to know, how old are you guys?

It’s not an age thing. It’s just that DCUM is a board made up of very traditional liberal women.

I'm 45 and don't consider myself anti but I don't use any of it. I also don't drink. I smoked a little weed pre-kids and I used to drink alcohol but as I've gotten older I just stopped. Now I do yoga, meditate, eat better, and get solid sleep instead.

I think what I've realized is that most drugs (and alcohol) are bandaids for problems, and when abused of course they make them worse. It's an escape. I don't judge people who use that escape (like I said, I've done it too) but I am highly skeptical of claims that weed or psychedelics are actually helping people. Even my dad and my best friend, who have take weed to help with pain and nausea from cancer, didn't really report back impressive results.

I think at the end of the day the only way to deal with the pain of life is to confront it and learn to release it without pharmaceutical assistance. That's what my meditation and mindfulness practices are for.

I’m 58. I tried both many, many moons ago. You do you, but I have no interest in doing high school drugs anymore.

Who try to get pregnant during the optimal month of the year. (Specifically, October)

47. I smoked a few times when I was younger, but it made me feel dumb. I also rarely drink.

And a lot of government employees who won't risk their jobs. I'm drug test-able.

I’m late 40s. I think millennials are more socially tolerant of drug use. Many of us GenX used drugs casually in college, but it wasn’t very potent stuff. “Shwag weed.” Anyway, I grew out of it. By the time I was 30, I was pregnant with my first child and didn’t like the idea of drugs. You may change! You’re young still.

50. I meditate instead of using psychedelics, because I like to be able to go on a trip while caring for my kids.

I think they are in general bad. I know lots of people use them (especially weed) and I see negative effects. I also don't really like drinking.

I'm 42, traditional in a lot of ways, but not a woman.

40. Never used any of it.

This. I don't like the effects so I don't touch it. Not enjoyable at all and I don't see what the appeal is.
