Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
I'm trying to decide between the two for my husband's birthday in a few weeks. Anyone have a strong preference for one over the other? We have tried most of the other big steakhouses in town, so I want to take him somewhere he hasn't been. TIA!
Bourbon Steak is much higher end. Both of them are nice, but for a romantic dinner, I'd go with JG Steakhouse!
I've eaten at BLT - the food was very good, but I wasn't super excited about the ambience. (though that might also have been due to it being a midweek lunch.) Assuming you've been to Ray's the Steaks before, but I recently visited the new location in Arlington for the first time and it's *really* nice.
I have only been to each of those places once, but I was not impressed by BLT Steak. I would go to Bourbon Steak or JG Steakhouse like another PP recommended.
Bourbon Steak is excellent. Tell them in advance that it's a birthday, and they will likely seat you where you want if possible (nice window seat), have a little card, and complementary proseco. It's a great place for a nice dinner--a refined, modern steak house. Desserts aren't great, but the rest of the food was excellent.
Thanks, PPs! I think we will go with Bourbon Steak. We have eaten at J&G, which was excellent. And Ray's is good too - we went there recently, but I want to fancy it up a little for his birthday.
I don't eat steak, so I try to choose some steak places when it's a special occasion for him. Charlie Palmer is actually his favorite so far, but no one seems to mention that anymore. Too many new faces in town, I guess! Thanks again! |
We are MAJOR steak eaters in our house and have been to most of the high end steak places in DC. Charlie Palmer's is still the best to us but we recently did BLT and Bourbon Steak and I prefer BLT. Something not quite right at Bourbon Steak and I cannot put my finger on it. BLT popovers are amazing. Have you tried Blue Duck Tavern? Steak we had was good and it was a good show to see them working in the kitchen. Went there for DH's birthday this summer. Did Fogo de Chao with friends for a meat fest as well for birthday last year which was fun. Great salad bar and some good cuts of meat.
LOVE the lobster pot pie at Bourbon Steak. I know, I know, it's a steak house, but it's one of my favorite dishes of all time, and I eat it at all of the Micheal Mina restaurants across the country. Divine!
Bourbon steak has a better atomasphere but BLT is better steak..so if you want the better steak..BLT it is but if you are looking for an overal special night..I would go with Bourbon and the food is pretty good as well but definitely a step under BLT
