| Hi, I am thinking of signing my 12U up for Medstar club hockey. We would have to wait until registration opens up to the general public. Gemini tells me that it might be hard to get a spot. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a 12U spot if you have never done Medstar before? TIA!! |

It can be rough getting spots in programs at MedStar. I had a child who did their Learn to Play at MedStar, as soon as they were ready for organized hockey we tried to sign them up and everything was full. I'd suggest you give it a go though since parents I've spoken to who have done Rooftop Hockey have had great things to say about the league and the coaches.
If you don't get a spot there's other great options in the area though. The ST James (Springfield) also has a decent house program that is very similar to Rooftop Hockey. The NoVA Ice Dogs (Mt. Vernon) have a great rec program that participates in the CCHL (Capital Corridor Hockey League). So instead of playing against the same kids every week, you go to other local rinks and play against rec level teams there. A lot of kids actually like this format better. I listed the 2 closer programs to Medstar, but here's a link to all the CCHL member club programs. https://www.capitalcorridorhl.org/about/cchl-member-clubs/44245 |
| You are awesome, thank you so much! Glad we will have some good options if we can't get in Medstar! |
| Rockville might be too far but they also have a house program (MYHA). |
| Follow up to this - is the rooftop program full year (like October-March) or just winter only, and what are the prices? The website info is currently for spring only. |
| I think it's only spring season |
| Back in the day there was a fall, winter, and then spring season. They may have merged fall/winter at this point. |
Huh? There's Fall/Winter that goes Sept- early March; then there's Spring that goes late March to early June. This past spring season was $456. Fall/Winter was $1,590. |
