Hair Curling gadget for 10yo

Anonymous
My 9yo DD has fairly straight hair but likes to wear it wavy - she typically braids it damp and sleeps on it. Her birthday is coming up and I thought it could be fun to get her something to use for this hobby. When I was growing up we did those foam rollers that clip shut (which it looks like they still make!), but I'm also seeing "flexi-rods" and the big heatless curler headband thing. Any recommendations?

(Not a curling iron - I have those already and want something that she can do herself if she chooses.)

The heatless curls headband is really fun for kids. It's easy (ish, you will likely need to help her, at least at first), looks cute, and you get spiral curls instead of the s-shaped waves you get with braids. I recommend it!

+1 on the heatless curling rod headband thingy. Look for the sets at Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Target/Ulta that come with one or two rods, a claw clip, and scrunchies to hold the ends, and get some spray gel to comb through damp hair before wrapping.

Tymo automatic curler. My 10 year old does it on her own and loves it. No risk of burning oneself
