When are tryouts for fall basketball club teams?

Daughter is looking to join an 8th grade club team this fall. From what I see in my area it's either Fairfax Stars, Vienna, or Elite. Anyone with experience recall when they have tryouts for the fall teams?

There are many more clubs than that. Not all teams have fall tryouts, but those that do generally hold them in late August / early September. Has she played select/FCYBL basketball?

Sounds like you’re in Virginia, but PPA (DC/MD based) runs a year-long program and does tryouts in June.

Thanks, can you list a few more? I am new to the basketball world. I look online and I see the three I listed. She's not looking to be on some top tier team, just a set team that is more serious than just rec. She wants to practice 2-3 times a week with games on weekends. Thanks for the help.

She has only played one season of rec winter league through McLean. She liked it more than she expected and is now playing a lot along with training at home.

If she hasn't played above rec league, I'd recommend trying out for a McLean Select team this fall (you could also look into Great Falls, or Falls Church, or Vienna). That would give you a better idea of the level of play, and throughout the winter you would find out about various AAU options for her age group from other players or parents. Then most AAU clubs will hold tryouts in Jan/Feb next year.
