| It started on a windy day this weekend while I was out walking. The next day, my ear had a mild ache, then jaw, now sinus, all only on the right side. I'm assuming allergy-caused ear infection that is radiating??? I've had inflammation in my ear before that resolved on its own. There is no wax build up. Seems crazy to go to the doctor for this. Should I try an antihistamine? (I don't do well with them, hence not an instant go-to.) TIA for any insight. |
| Get a camera off Amazon and virtual doctor. |
| I have the same. Started yesterday. Allergies, which I have, didn't even occur to me. I thought maybe it was coming from a toothache. |
| Try a heating pad |
|
Interesting suggestion re: virtual doctor. I've never done that.
And yes, allergies didn't occur to me right away. But I was walking in a lot of pollen and dust. I'll try some allergy meds first. Heating pad is a great idea. I've seen online that I can buy OTC pain relief ear drops. But that doesn't seem like a great idea. Thanks! |
Heating pad is my go to for almost everything |
| Sounds like TMJ dysfunction pain |
| Antihistamine plus decongestant should help. |
|
It doesn't seem crazy to me to go to a doctor for this, because it sounds like the origin of the pain may be neurological.
If decongestant doesn't do it after a day, I would get seen (by an MD, not an NP). |
| Tmj are you grinding at night? |
Interesting. I looked up Trigenminal neuralgia and it doesn't seem to be that, thankfully. It is primarily, literally, in my ear, like an ear infection that is now radiating. However, if it doesn't go away with antihistamines, then I will get in to see my primary care doctor who is very good and I can get in immediately. Thanks for your thoughts. |
I saw the comment above and was going to respond up there. I don't have any signs of grinding. My DH has TMJ and our dentist always is checking on me as well. So I think I can somewhat confidently say I am not grinding. I track my sleep and there haven't been any irregularities. |
I just tried some Afrin and so far no change. But I will try antihistamine and decongestant tonight. |
| I was having some ear issues on one side and a Zyrtec cleared them up. I suspect allergies. |
I have this. And I think this one is non drowsy. I am working, though not getting much done for all my chatting! |
