I am not associated with the house or any realtor.
Saw this ine in my redfin feed. https://www.redfin.com/VA/Arlington/2705-N-Upshur-St-22207/home/11230245?utm_source=myredfin&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=recommendations_update&riftinfo=ZXY9ZW1haWwmbD0yNDIwODcwJnA9bGlzdGluZ191cGRhdGVzX3JlY29tbWVuZGF0aW9ucyZhPWNsaWNrJnM9cmVjb21tZW5kYXRpb25zJnQ9aW1hZ2UmZW1haWxfaWQ9MjQyMDg3MF8xNzc2NzMxNzkzXzYmbGlscl9zY29yZT0wLjAwODI3ODAwMDE2ODUwMjMzJmxpc3RpbmdfaWQ9MjEzMDAzNzA2JnBvc2l0aW9uPTAmcHJvcGVydHlfaWQ9MTEyMzAyNDUmdXBkYXRlX3R5cGU9OSZ6PTA%3D Truly unfortunate paint colors for sale. I kept thinking how much primer to cover the bright paints. Also looks like one room was a garage? Is this a teardown or can it be fixed? |
| I think it’s odd but not completely irredeemable. I doubt it’ll go for $1.7 million. |
| I wonder. It's a nice area but the decor is idiosyncratic |
|
Wow. Because OP thought there was a problem.
Just paint everything white, problem solved. I do like some of the 70s era bedrooms, it's rather neat. I also think owners made some dubious decisions when making upgrades, like those craftsmen doors to the deck when this isn't a craftsman. And I suspect the kitchen remodel blocked up the original access to the hall from the kitchen. I'd definitely be remodeling that whole kitchen and dining area for a better layout and flow, as current configuration is awkward and weird, it's not cohesive nor maximizes potential. |
| I'm pretty sure my brother's childhood bedroom had that red-white-and-blue striped wallpaper! |
It's a classic mid century modern home that nestles into the landscape. People love those. Not a tear down at all. The interiors could use a renovation. |
|
Based on OPs comment, I thought the whole house would be painted crazy colors but it's just a couple of rooms. No big deal.
You'd have to hire someone to strip the wallpaper in the bathrooms and paint or re-wall paper, but that's not a big deal either. |
Exactly! Terrific location and cool, funky layout. So much better than the boxy, hypermodern crap builders are putting up in Arlington right now. |
| I love it. It's beautiful. Sure, I'd repaint the rooms that have the loud colors. But I would love to be able to buy this house. I get what you are saying about the land, but I like it that it backs to a stream and trail. |
| Teardown? No! It’s a classic MCM home that looks like it has good bones and has been well cared for. In the right hands, a redesign of the interior could be fantastic. |
| Dated. Owners have been putting paint on it and not much else. I’d be worried about poor maintenance. It has nice bones. I hope it sells for a lot less and doesn’t need major infrastructure work. |
Nah. I can tell everything is well maintained. The kitchen was remodeled at one point. Their improvement are boring but this house has definitely been cared for. Older owners. |
| The dining and living rooms have MCM furniture, so I'm guessing the owners love the style and chose that burnt orange because they thought it fit with the MCM vibe. I couldn't live with that color and would repaint. Otherwise it's a cute house with a lot of trees around. |
Yeah, This is a beautiful Mid Century Modern House. I love the house probably owned by an artist. |
| I don’t like this house but as someone who has been looking in this neighborhood, there is very limited inventory. Been looking to upgrade for two years and there is nothing. |
