Fozen transfer

Anonymous
So, I just found out Monday that I'm not pregnant after we tried with one of our three frozen embryos. I have a healthy 2 yo daughter and had no problem having her (with IVF - worked the first time around), but now I'm worried it may not be so easy this time around. I'm 36 now, was 33. How successful was anyone else out there with their frozen embryos. Also, we really only want to do one at a time b/c we don't want two more children but I keep hearing that putting 2 in together is better than trying 1 and then 1

My first IVF was negative and we did a FET directly - transfered two blasts and both took and now we have 2.5 yr old twins. I was 34. Best of luck.

As you know, it's all a roll of the dice. What does your RE say? I followed my RE's recommendation and did do a 2 embryo FET which resulted in a singelton. I was really worried about twins and preferred a singleton. I was 34.

I'm 40 and did 2 single transfer FETs- both negative. Both my RE and OB really encouraged us to try to embies on my most recent FET and I got a BFP. It will be a couple of weeks yet before we know if we have a singleton or twins. We really wanted to try and avoid twins, but ultimately decided we felt transfering two was the right thing to do in our situation. It's a difficult and very personal decision- best of luck to you.

FWIW, I'm in the same boat, and will be transferring the first of my two frozen embryos next week. I also want to minimize my chance of twins and insisted on two tries of one each, rather than a single try with two. I don't understand why inserting two at once would increase one's chances over two tries with one. I think it's a role of the dice either way, and so your decision depends on money, time, and your willingness to risk twins. Good luck!

6:25 here- I actually asked my RE if there is any difference in succes rates between transferring 1 embryo at a time vs 2 at once and he said no. The main reason we decided to go with 2 for our third FET was because (1) this was the last FET we could afford, so wanted to maximize our chances and (2) the emotional toll of the transfers was getting really hard. We took a few months off treatment to think long and hard about taking the risk with twins. It's a tough decision.

Thanks, 6:25. I might do the same in your situation, but since we only have two embryos, it was easy to say two tries. I wish I had more tries, though!
