Feedback from ASPIRE Showcase

Anonymous
Any meaningful feedback from this weekends first GA Aspire Showcase? With Aspire in its first year, we are from a club that does not yet have full GA. How was the level? Were there any scouts? Better or worse for recruiting ages than Jefferson Cup or WAGS or some of the larger Showcases like PDA or NCFC?

Teams in attendance from the greater DMV area:
BA
BC
Alex
Mclean
VA Rev
SYC
Coppermine
TSJ
PPA
Potomac
Loudoun

Money grab. Aspire is a for fun soccer thing.

Complete waste of time even if your club could field a full squad.

Yet another case of adults tearing girls down for working hard and having fun.

The PP asked a simple question about feedback. This board continues to show the actual issues with youth soccer. It’s not pay to play, it’s the adults.

There were a total of about 20 College Coaches there for the days we were there. Mostly small D3 from Virginia and North Carolina.

Was a very good to great event.

Four officials at each game. Center, two ARs, and one between the benches.

Cards were checked prior to each of our games.

Veo's were at every field. Teams were informed to not bring their own.

Aspire signs everywhere. Not GA signs...Aspire signage.

Reasonably priced, local hotels.

There was not much to dislike to be honest.

Obviously if you are looking for high end soccer and signing letter of intent, this is not what you want or need. For the other 75%, it was a great event.

There were some baller Aspire Teams in the Super Groups.

NYFC Won their U14 Super Group Handily... but then I saw they only have and Aspire Team and not a GA level team... So I expect they will be promoted into the Full GA league.

The Player Recovery Lounge was a cool feature the players enjoyed.

Yes scouts. It's better to be on an Aspire team or even an ECNL R team and get playing time then being on an ECNL team with no playing time. Proven fact is scouts scout players that actually play not bench riders. So if you are on a GA or ECNL teams and think you wil get scouted on the bench you may want to rethink lol. Nothing wrong with either Aspire or ECNL R.

if you're at an ASPIRE showcase, then I'm guessing you haven't been to an ECNL one. So pipe down
