MCPS hiring freeze

Anyone know any details on the freeze? Are they not hiring any new classroom teachers for this upcoming year at all?? That seem crazy given the shortages….

I think you are confused. Transfers get first priority and have the first hiring window. It wil then open up for new hires.

I have not heard about a hiring freeze. But wouldn’t be surprised with the enrollment drop.

I haven’t heard anything about this - OP, I think you may be talking about the open/close list, which isn’t the same as a freeze.

The freeze right now only impacts central office. No spending, no hiring unless approved.

I haven't heard this and I work for MCPS. There may be one in the future depending on the budget, how many people are retiring, etc. I am curious if ICE will impact enrollment. We are seeing a decrease at the preK level.
