Experience with non-resident enrollment in MCPS

Anonymous
I currently live in DC and looking to move to MC, but the search is taking longer than anticipated.

Is the non-resident enrollment a possibility if I pay $22,000 tuition or there are restrictions for doing that?

Any advice from parents with kids enrolled as non-residents would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I cannot imagine paying $22,000 to enroll in school here. It's not that good! why not just stay in DCPS until you find a place?

If your kid is good at sports I will let you use my address as home of record and save you the enrollment fees.

MCPS is not worth paying that money for! Just hang tight in DCPS until you find your home in MoCo.

I think you can only do it at schools with space.

Pay for a private for that price.

You could enter a lease for someone's basement in my neighborhood for less than that. My kid's friend's parents did that to go to a better school within mcps

If it's not going to be the school where your child is going to later enroll, I really don't see the point of paying for MCPS at all. That tuition is bonkers. You could probably pay someone to use their address for way less.
