| My kid is currently at Francis Stevens and they love it there. They have a very good chance of getting into Hardy for 7th grade. They have great English teachers at Francis and the decision to move will come down to how good the English teachers at Hardy for 7th and 8th grade are. MacArthur isn’t a strong enough reason for us to move to Hardy. Any current Hardy parents willing to share their experiences with English teachers at Hardy? |
| Why are you looking at moving? |
|
My kid has had fine but not amazing English teachers at Hardy. If that is the thing that matters most to you, you might be unhappy. But overall Hardy is great.

| Another hardy parent with multiple kids at hardy over the last few years - the ELA teachers they have had have all been excellent. One has since left, but is the reason one of my kids is an excellent writer. Just to note- the teachers do switch grades and don’t all stay at Hardy (although there are teachers who have been there for many, many years)… but it’s impossible to predict who will be teaching ELA by the time you get there. One of my children had a great ELA teacher for 6th and that teacher switched grades and is currently teaching 7th. |
| If you and your kid are happy in school, and you don't care about the feeder rights, why would you move them OP? That really does not make sense. |
This. If the child loves FS, is having a good academic experience there, and the HS feed is not a meaningful draw, then why would you switch? My DCs have had great experiences at Hardy. ELA has varied from okay to strong. But what else factors into OP's assessment? |
Uh, doesn’t FS feed to Cardozo? Sounds like Hardy might be a good option. |
| There has been no shortage of MacArthur spaces in the lottery. Hardy is a little bigger with more sports offerings and some higher scoring students. Some students are better of limiting school changes. |
