Iowa and Kenyon summer camps for an english major

| DC was just accepted to both Iowa and Kenyon writing camps. Is one better than the other and does it help with admissions. DC is currently a sophomore. Are there any suggestions on how to strengthen the profile. |

| Congrats to your kid! I can only speak about the Kenyon summer writing workshop. My DC attended it last year and had an amazing time! I've heard that Iowa is more selective than Kenyon though but my kid chose Kenyon because it's closer to home and he loved the idea of being in a remote rural place for a full writing immersion experience. Ha! Did it help my kid with admissions? Maybe? He got accepted to Kenyon and a T15 school and got a lot of merit. So maybe? We will never know, but having the Kenyon experience helped his narrative of wanting to pursue creative writing in college. |
