Touching up roots from highlights?

Anonymous
I'm a natural dark blonde who does a full head of highlights usually 1-2 times a year.

6 months in and notice my roots are showing a good bit. Can I go in and just get a root touch up or will that mess up with the highlights in there already?

I think a good + knowledgeable hairdresser 💇🏻‍♀️ will know how to perfectly touch up your roots w/o messing up your highlights.

They will apply the highlights to your roots in a way that the bleach doesn’t overlap and fry your previously highlighted hair. Do not attempt at home because that’s what happens when people try it themselves.

I’m a natural medium blonde turning ashy and my colorist just added blonde highlights without bleach. They won’t lift as much as with bleach, and they are more golden than ash blonde but I won’t need to worry about overlapping damage. And I think they will look good with my silver streaks coming in but it’s too early to know yet. Maybe that would work for you since you’re not too dark?

Not OP but I find my roots get so oily if I don’t touch them up for a couple months.

I get this done every 4 weeks (my hair grows super fast and I have grey roots). I get highlights every 12 weeks, and the touch ups in between.
