During room draw this past week for fall 2026 housing, students at Pomona College have reported trading and bidding for housing selection times — including thousand-dollar bids and internship offers.

oh, wow ... reminds me of Soviet Union's barter economy in the 1980s |
| How bad are the dorms that there’s only two that people want? |
What a horrible experience and source of stress! Side note: we visited the 5Cs in March (to visit after being admitted) and it was 97 degrees and it felt so, so hot. I didn't realize SoCal got that hot so early. Most dorms don't have AC and the ones in the 5Cs that just added room AC units (e.g., CMC), the students told us they didn't work well. |
At night it drops to 60°. Understand that this has been true for decades. You think people on The west coast aren’t smart enough for AC? |
So people can't use their own rooms until 10 or 11 pm at night? no afternoon naps? No studying at their desks? |
| okay there is definitely a troll here on the pomona waitlist. every week theres a new post trying to paint pomona specifically in a bad light |
yikes |
Most college students spend most of their day out of their room anyway. Sun sets at 6 btw. |
| Did someone get rejected by Pomona or just trying to clear the wait list? |
you think the troll wrote and submitted a story to the 5C student newspaper? |
Exactly! This story was written in Pomona's newspaper by a Pomona student. For good reason, the students seem upset. |
The lights at Pomona's dorms are bad as well? |
obviously not, but they post a new story about pomona every week. a few days ago a new post about some fgli lounge at pomona having trash in it was posted. it’s not an extremely popular school, which makes it feel targeted. |
+1 yeah article is clearly not written by a troll but a legit student. |
