If your high school does not have good theater options, where would you go for training/performance options?

Background: My 13 year old has been pretty involved in musical theatre at her middle school. She did shows grades 6-8, and also is part of a conservatory this year at Imagination Stage. Unfortunately, the high school she is going to attend next year really doesn't have a theatre department and it's not a focus at all. Where would you recommend she consider for full year programs, etc? We are in Montgomery County, MD.

Honestly, NYC.

Yep. Go to NYC twice a week for after school rehearsal. Can’t believe OP didn’t think of that!

She should just be taking tons of dance classes and voice lessons, and auditioning for community theater. Get on the Facebook groups for DMV theater--there are a couple, and auditions are posted all the time. Follow off the local theaters by you as well for their audition posts. Plan on theater summer camps. You could do Traveling Players for a bit for straight plays.

Love Traveling Players! DD has done several of their shows and always had a great experience.
