| Has anyone traveled to an F1 race - any tips or do’s or don’ts? Teen son has this on his list of things he wants to do - thinking of doing it as his HS graduation gift this summer. Thinking of England. |
| What about Montreal? |
| My husband went to the Austin one a couple years ago. Had a great time. Leave plenty of time for transportation and buy your merch elsewhere unless you want to spend tons of money at the track. The prices were nuts. |

It would be a lot of fun. Silverstone is a great track with a lot of F1 history. The nex t is Belgium. Another awesome place.
It is a bit late for doing this and tickets will be pricey. You can expect to pay starting at 300-500 euro per ticket. Those will not be preferred seats, not by a long shot. |

I went a few months ago. It's largely transforming to a sport of the rich, but it's still fun. Book tickets as early as possible, and at some circuits, there will be entertainment like concerts every evening including so you get more "value" for your ticket. The lines for the paddock walk can be enormous and can be rushed and not worth it, but he can look at reviews online as it varies by circuit.
Might as well go once, as it is a unique experience. Start saving now! |
| Family members did the Belgium one. Depending on the location of the race - plan to purchase the race weekend tickets well in advance if there is a preferred seating location "best curve" etc. Accommodations were also booked well in advance. They also had to pay 3 days of parking in order to access the track venue. The race weekend was crowded and filled to the brim with folks - it took time getting in and leaving each day. The race itself had rain delays and was "slow". While they enjoyed, it expect to pay a lot, its crowded and make sure your seats have access to a large screen - otherwise you only see a snapshot of the cars going by. Our family members said they enjoyed it but wouldn't do it again in person. |

If you just want to go to a race to say you have been Vegas is the easiest logistically to attend and basic tickets are egregious. If you want to do anything with any lounge access and or track access you are look at 5 - 25k per person.
Look on Kym Ilman on you tube. He is an F1 Photographer that has done videos on overall costs of various race venue and most affordable races to attend. He also lets you know how much merch and food & beverage run at each track. |
Meant to say "...basic tickets AREN'T egregious". |

DC went to the Austin one a couple of years ago. Bought the tickets way in advance. Had a great time.
We've looked at Silverstone because we have family nearby. We will probably try to go next year, but no personal experience yet. |
