Sports Photography

DD is into sports photography. She has been taking photos of sporting events in her HS, but the season is almost over. Any ideas where HS kid can take photos of sporting events/games/practices during the summer? NoVa, but willing to travel. I was thinking tennis clubs, pickle ball and swim meets. Anyone knows of any other good outlets? She is trying to build a strong portfolio over the summer. TYIA

There is usually a field hockey league at GMU over the late spring/early summer.

Virginia Dream, Arlington, Alexandria, and I am sure more, all have semi pro soccer teams that play into the summer. They'd probably love to have her take shots they can use on their social media

The volleyball clubs all have preseason clinics going on.

Every HS has sports camps and Green Days for falls sports.

St James hosts a number of hockey tournaments during the spring/summer, but honestly I think you could show up at St James any weekend and have plenty to shoot there always seems to be some sort of event happening.

Little League all-stars teams (softball & baseball) would probably love a photographer, especially if she's willing to put something where families can pay to download pics.

Same with travel - it goes into and for some teams through the summer. Loudoun County is the local epicenter of travel softball, not sure about baseball.

Horse shows! Over summer she can catch multi-day shows in Leesburg, Upperville, Upper Marlboro to name a few.

Also, sometimes baseball tournaments will offer a photography package. You could reach out to local tournament hosts (many at Patriot Park North) to see if any might be interested.
