How is everyone saying that SYC is ranked number 3 in Va? I thought the clubs below were all better on the girls side.
VDA FVU Arlington McLean RU NVA VRSC Loudoun And those are just the bigger names. Things are changing fast. |
| Ranked in what age group? By who? Where? For what? |
| It’s pretty simple. The app itself doesn’t care how a club accrues points. So the u-littles stacking points balances out basically a top 5-10 U13 and up program. |
| Lord is OP out of touch… |
In fairness, not everyone looking for info knows where to look. They just get inundated with SYC social media junk and ask a “dumb” question you probably didn’t know the answer to either at some point. |
Please explain then. You shouldn’t be promoting ignorance. Educate us |
The app also includes usl/y results |
Everyone isn’t saying it. But the Soccer Rankings App says it. -And that is, perhaps, the only accurate tool to rank all teams across all platforms. |
Such garbage and you know it. Stick to managing SYC’s Instagram account. It is A tool, not the only one. And it has more than enough limitations, which have been discussed in this forum to death. Among those limitations for the benefit of the OP…. A club that plays more games and tournaments gets more points in the app, which overall ranks their club higher. So, a club with not actually top 3 older teams as measured against actual opponents can claim to be “#3 in Virginia” because the rankings app simply aggregates the total across all age groups. So, the u9, 10, 11s playing as much as they do in reportable environments means they get more points than any other club at that age. The app eventually corrects for this in individual age group rankings by only using a set time period but the points themselves accrue to keep those teams higher ranked (appropriately) but also subject to their recent results (also, appropriately) Does that make them the #3 club? In a math problem? Yes. In real life, of course not. A simple look at each age shows the fall off from early ages to later. So, some of those clubs don’t even have younger age groups, which means not having 3-4 years of point accrual means VDA is the #5 girls program. Is that true? Does anyone actually believe that? Clearly not. |
Soccer Rankings App is unbiased and accurate. It must hurt all of you sheep that fall for the social media propaganda to see the truth. |
|
It is accurate in that it correctly calculates the inputs it is told to.
It is unbiased in what it reports, and the individual team rankings are certainly a useful tool. As a club ranking tool, it is “biased”towards quantity over quality because it has no way (or simply doesn’t which, the guy who runs it is basically a volunteer and probably viewed it as a fun feature and didn’t expect clubs to start using that as a promotional tool to people who don’t know better) to filter or weight the aggregated data the way it does with team data. Team Rankings- useful and closer to reality, essentially operates on accepted statistical modeling. Club Rankings- Fun feature of the app with no real statistical limiting guiderails. |
You lost all credibility including this club in "the bigger names". |
|
NVA and Loudoun are the same thing and McClean is no longer a big club you need to be better bud.
SYC belongs here but agree alot is left on the table after u13. Your girls will develop and be awesome, win a lot and then leave for VDA, FVU and ARL in that order maybe even McClean if you don't take care of outcomes i.e. what consumers care about- college placement |
|
It’s probably worth noting that SYC didn’t have a platform for the older girls before last year, so it makes sense they wouldn’t have as strong of older teams as clubs that had ECNL/GA. For them to still be competitive despite that is at the very least respectable.
It’s true the college placement for girls will be important for the program, but if they are able to continue to do well bringing in the Ulittles and maintain the talent above U13 then the ranking app number might even be better. |
| Soccer Rankings App is true. GotSoccer rankings are absolute trash. |
