Errors in the new MCPS program website

Anonymous
Wanna have some fun? Look through the new regional program website for all the errors MCPS didn't catch before taking it live. My favorite is the front page on the button for regions where they left template text in so it says "This is a wider card with supporting text below as a natural lead-in to additional content. This card has even longer content than the first to show that equal height action."

"AP Enrollment in Music Theory junior year" is another good one.

Kind of petty honestly OP

Is it just me or are these programs not even close to the same, even though they have similar names and descriptions?

Environmental Science & Leadership

Global Ecology and Leadership

It's like Poolesville gets to keep the good ecology program and everyone else gets the Dollar Store version.

Which of these programs are lottery or interest based?

Oh please, what is DCUM for other than pettiness? And in this case it's also underscoring how unprepared the district is for this. So it's pettiness with a purpose. -NP

Like everything in MCPS they are trying to create a perception of uniformity and equal access, calling it "equity" and not achieving any of those things.

Who are all the community partners that will give hundreds of students internships?
Anonymous
CAP: Only at Blair
Aviation: Only at Magruder
PTECH: Only at Clarksburg
Video and Audio Production: Only at Churchill
Machine Learning and Data Science: Only at Woodward
Pharmacy Tech: Only at Clarksburg
Global Ecology: On;y at Poolesville

No kids can apply to programs outside their region.

So much for "abundance" and "access."

I'm on the design team and we asked about that. MCPS plans to leave it up to schools to figure that out.

Yup. This is what happens when you go with an "asset based" model-- schools with good programs get to keep theirs and schools with crappy programs get to keep theirs and then you just claim they're the same thing and say Equity Equity Equity as loud as you can and the people who aren't paying close enough attention laud you for your great and bold improvements to the system...

Until MCPS decides to decimate Global Ecology with whatever new interest-based or criteria/lottery based admissions standards that they decide.

Did you notice in the last BOE slides that Global Ecology was not labeled with a "c" or an "i" - they left it off, prob intentionally.

The engineering at Wheaton is completely different from Engineering at the other 5 regions.
