| DD will write a thank-you note and then what else do we give? I do not know where they live so it is hard to pick a restaurant for a gift card; isn gift card too generic or crass? |
| Correction: Amazon gift card |
| Exactly. What is the "right" gift? To a restaurant? |
|
Gift card to amazon or target.
|
| Ok and how much? |
What if they don't visit Amazon or Target? |
| We gave them a Bluemercury bag with hand cream, lip balm, and added a box of nice Belgian chocolates. |
| I’m an 11th/12th grade teacher (private school) and my students usually give me a $50 Amazon gift card and a handwritten note |
|
Please don’t do any more than a kind note. I feel awkward when I receive money. I usually ease the guilt by using the gift card on classroom supplies, but I’d rather just receive a note.
I’m a professional and it just feels… odd. I don’t give other professionals in my life gift cards. Thank you for the thoughtfulness, but it isn’t necessary. -high school teacher |
Same. A gift really is not necessary. This is part of my job. - another HS teacher |
| DC wrote a nice card and we added $100 cash, after the recs were submitted. These letters take time to write so it felt fair. |
How much before the recs were submitted? |
100? What school district and state? |
Very easy to regift. Their kids can use it. They can get groceries at Target. Very versatile and almost everyone either uses these places to shop or knows someone close to them who does or can gift them to someone (another teacher, a mailman, etc.). |
This is very individual - to you. Hand creams have scents and everyone likes something different - or no scent. Lip balm, same thing (brand, scent). Why not just a gift card. Easier and more neutral for someone to get what they actually want. |
